This film sparked considerable discussion.

This film sparked considerable discussion.  Most people agreed that it gives a positive and encouraging view of what people can, and indeed should, do in the face of peak oil and climate change.  At least one, initially skeptical , person said that she would go and find out more about Transition.

The 'warm, fuzzy' positive message comes over loud and clear.  We can adapt and create  lifestyles more satisfying than those we have now.  The message that we must change, fast, to prevent a climate catastrophe, does not get a look in.   This despite the emphasis on creating an Energy Descent Plan in the Transition Handbook.

A small group who spent some time discussing the film, think it is essential that we keep educating ourselves about Climate Change and the opinion that merely adapting is not enough; we should be proactively changing the way we live , and this view should be given priority in a 2010 In Transition film.  We are aware that hope and optimism may well be better motivators than fear and despondency,  but are concerned that the film goes too far in the positive direction.   Given that climate changes  appear to be happening faster than the IPCC predicted perhaps Energy Descent Plans should be targeted at ' within ten years, rather than in twenty.'
