Time:

Venue:
Centre 81, Garelochhead, Argyll and Bute

As part of a transition town, you have already shown an interest in reducing your impact on the natural environment. Whether you were attracted to ‘transition’ because of a desire to cut your energy costs, produce some of your own food, reuse and recycle materials, or share your skills locally, an innovative course in sustainable living could be for you.

Rachel Bailey and Katherine Price, 2 of the founder members of Transition Helensburgh, are offering a 2-day introduction to Permaculture design course on 25 and 26 February 2012, which aims to help you reduce your impact on the planet using a practical and creative approach.

During the 2-day course, you will:
- Explore the ethics and principles of Permaculture,
- Practice your observation skills,
- See examples of Permaculture in practice,
- Learn about sustainable communities and systems; and
- Learn how to apply the design process through practical and group work.

After the course, you will be able to apply the design process to match your own lifestyle.

The course will cost £40 for the weekend. For more information or to book a place, please contact Katherine Price (07747 655 664 or k.m.price@btinternet.co.uk) or Rachel Bailey (07870 208 977 or rachel.bailey3@gmail.com).

What is Permaculture? Permaculture, which the transition initiative is based on, is a holistic approach to creating sustainable ways to live using a minimum of resources, time and effort. It is broad ranging and encompasses all aspects of living – including food production, housing and transport. In Permaculture, there are no rules, but guiding principles that help the design process of creating sustainable ways to live. They enable you to think things through rather than implementing the first idea that comes to mind and to see connections in different areas of your life to which simple changes might result in a more harmonious system, saving time, effort and resources.
