Attention/Intention

A lovely contrast in our core group discussion about the difference between going through a process with an intention, compared to giving it attention - allowing the voices to find their own way, to tap into their learned, inner, community and cultural wisdoms.

How challenging it can be to step back from going into a process with the intention of delivering an outcome, and going in with a listening ear and a willingness to learn.

Maybe we should all embrace our inner attention seeker?

A Deeper Grief

The morning sessions seems to resonate with people on a deep level. Some feel deeply emotional when we decide where we 'belong', what 'coming home' really means, the sense of an innocence we knew as children being something to which we both long to return and about which we already carry too many associations and information to ever fully embrace again.

There are transition pioneers not at this conference who feel burned out, and much talk of the motivation to 'do' Transition being driven by our inability to come to terms with our own mortality, but I'm not sure it's as simple as that.

Transition Tesco?

So the idea is that Transition Scotland Support could become a consultancy and sell its services to maintain a presence.

Which is great around the processes of transition and its many aspects - I can see a real need for reskilling events and support in unleashing and ... I have to say this or my six year old will never forgive me ... Transition Childcare and other associated support and I would happily pay for the skills and support of the TSS team.

But the idea is mooted that TSS could capture information about what's happening in the local groups and create a revenue stream selling it to the Scottish Government, local authorities, and 'big' business etc ... and it really pushes my buttons. Transition is about emPOWERment at local level, about building the capacity of local people to understand what their real needs are and to find ways of meeting them.
