Group Building / Discovery Exercises offered to Transition Groups

Group Building Games can build a sense of togetherness and trust within a group, offer another way of ensuring transition is about much more than hard graft and can offer a new way of exploring any challenging issues within a group. Many people also find they are fun!

Andrew Teece, a trained facilitator, is offering to lead these games for transition groups in return for travel expenses. They may be particularly suitable for 'heart and soul' type groups however any group may benefit and the exercises can be tailored to the needs of the groups concerned.

Community Wildlife Fund

The BIG Lottery Fund has announced the launch of its new Community Wildlife Fund and it is available throughout the UK.  Through the fund not for profit groups, local councils, schools and health bodys can apply for funding of between £300 and £10,000 for projects that will bring together local people to discover, enjoy or protect wildlife in their local area by improving rural or urban environments for people to enjoy, and by getting people more active and healthier.

Centre of Health and Wellbeing: Invitation to Tender

CHWB seeks proposals, from individuals or organisations, to deliver its Laughter Therapy programme. This project requires a suitably qualified individual / organisation to develop, disseminate and test new tools associated with laughter therapy, in order to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals living in Edinburgh and the Lothians. The successful applicant will be required to work closely with a range of organisations including public sector, social enterprise, community and voluntary groups, and other organisations that could impact the programme.

Carbon Cutters

North Queensferry have just embarked on their Carbon Cutters project to reduce household carbon emissions and increase energy efficiency. They have a project co-ordinator, Gina Martin, and will have two sessional workers. They will be providing householders with energy diaries that can be used in conjunction with energy monitors to look closely at household use and follow the patterns of energy use. They are keen to hear form other people who have done similar things in their communities and have agreed for TSS to follow their adventures in a live case study.

Stories of Sustainability

Emily, our new Resources for Communities worker is looking for stories from across Scotland about why people got involved in making sustainable living a reality.

'I'm really interested to know why people got involved, what inspired them to start and what keeps them going. We're at a really exciting point in history and it's important to capture some of the real life experiences so that we can build on the work that hundreds of people are putting in.'

Active Citizens Programme

The British Council are looking for people running voluntary or community organisations or networks which promote active participation and social justice for their Active Citizens Programme.

Woodfuel Action Plan

The Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA) has been working with a range of partners on developing a wood fuel action plan to shape the way forward for both suppliers, users and potential users of firewood in the Park.

Using wood to heat homes and businesses makes so much sense,” said CNPA convener David Green. “To tackle climate change, it is vital that we move away from fossil fuels like coal and oil, which release lots of greenhouse gases when they are burned".
