Another year of CCF funding for Transition support in Glasgow
Well, time has gone by and I am still here, by the skin of my teeth it feels like, now funded again for another year, which I am incredibly grateful for, to TSS, CCF and Love Milton who I am now an employee with.
I will be working with 5 community groups - three existing - Love Milton [Milton] and Depot Arts [Possil] in North Glasgow, Playbusters [ Parkhead] East Glasgow, together with 2 additional groups, Urban Roots [Toryglen] and Galgael [Govan], both in the South of Glasgow. I will be helping them with a range of different activities and approaches that feel relevant to their community setting and needs that help deliver their CCF money but also look at the role of community resilience in becoming truly sustainable and healthy communities both at a local and regional level
I will help them look at what would be part of their community [as with Love Miltons recent AGM and visioning event] to create the best place to live...ever, whether it be local skills, resources and cooperative ways of working through playing the Quest, being part of a community practitioners network to learn from and give support to each other, helping develop, deliver, participate in and share learning at 5 glasgow wide themed events, contribute to developing community resources that will inspire and support similar communities in Glasgow and further afield and generally be supportive of them to be more active in their local and glasgow wide sustainability network.
After 2 years of really intensive work together to find our feet with Transition, sustainability, community regeneration working authentically with different cultural identities I was feeling that I was just getting a handle on what was working as well as why and how to work more supportively to effect greater community empowerment. Now there's the chance to build on what has been seeded and developed to ensure that all the opportunities for moving away from fossil fuel dependancy can be aligned in each community in a way that suits and reflects its unique cultural identity, history and desires for a hopeful future.
More about Love Miltons AGM and the start of imagining their community, coming soon...
